IBM Different Shifts Timings & Shift Allowances
Shift allowances are a crucial aspect of compensation for employees working in shifts, ensuring fair compensation for the inconvenience of non-standard working hours. For employees of IBM India Private Limited, particularly those in the Consulting CIC unit (Standard Group 2), shift allowances have been standardized effective from 25th December 2021. This blog delves into the details of these allowances to provide clarity and understanding.
Shift Details and Allowances
The shift allowances vary based on the timing of the shift, the employee's band, and whether they are regular (full-time) or fixed-term hires. Here’s a breakdown of the different shifts and their respective allowances:
General Shift
- Shift Timing: 08:01 Hrs to 11:00 Hrs IST
- Applicable Bands: Up to Band 10
- Allowance: Not Applicable
Shift 1
- Shift Timing: 06:01 Hrs to 08:00 Hrs IST
- Applicable Bands: Up to Band 10
- Allowance: 250 INR per Shift
Shift 2
- Shift Timing: 11:01 Hrs to 16:00 Hrs IST
- Applicable Bands: Up to Band 10
- Allowance: 250 INR per Shift
Shift 3
- Shift Timing: 16:01 Hrs to 18:00 Hrs IST
- Applicable Bands: Up to Band 10
- Allowance: 500 INR per Shift
Shift 5
- Shift Timing: 18:01 Hrs to 03:00 Hrs IST (Next Day)
- Applicable Bands: Up to Band 07
- Allowance: 500 INR per Shift
- Applicable Bands: Band 08 and 09
- Allowance: 750 INR per Shift
- Applicable Bands: Band 10
- Allowance: 1000 INR per Shift
Shift 6
- Shift Timing: 03:01 Hrs to 06:00 Hrs IST
- Applicable Bands: Up to Band 07
- Allowance: 500 INR per Shift
- Applicable Bands: Band 08 and 09
- Allowance: 750 INR per Shift
- Applicable Bands: Band 10
- Allowance: 1000 INR per Shift
Standby Allowances
In addition to shift allowances, standby allowances are also provided for employees in IBM Consulting-CIC unit under the following conditions:
- Weekday (8 hours coverage): 200 INR (Prorated based on actual standby hours claimed)
- Weekly Off / Public Holiday (16 hours coverage): 400 INR (Prorated based on actual standby hours claimed)
These allowances ensure that employees are compensated adequately for their availability during standby periods.
